Monitoring your brand mentions across AI assistants
Checking once what AIs say about your brand is not enough. Models are updated several times a year, their live web answers shift every week, and your competitors keep publishing in the meantime. An accurate mention today can become an absence or an error three months from now, with no warning. Monitoring means moving from the one-off test to ongoing tracking.
Why a single test is not enough
An AI answer is not a fixed record: it is a snapshot taken at a moment, with a given phrasing, on a given model version. Ask the same question a week later and the answer may name other brands, fix one error or introduce a new one. What matters is not the state on a single day, but the trend over time.
For a brand the stakes are concrete: you want to know whether your visibility is rising or falling, whether a correction you published has finally been picked up, and whether a competitor is taking your place in recommendations. None of that shows on an isolated screenshot.
What to track, concretely
Four indicators tell most of the story. Presence: on your customers' questions, are you cited, and how often. Share of voice: among the brands the AI recommends, where do you stand against competitors. Accuracy: does what the AI states about your business, pricing or scope stay correct. And tone: are you described favourably, neutrally, or with reservations.
Each of these only makes sense when measured regularly and across several AIs. ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and the others do not answer the same way: tracking only one gives a partial and often misleading view.
The manual method, and its limits
You can run this tracking yourself. Prepare a list of questions a customer who does not know you would ask, put them to several AIs, note who is cited and in what tone, then repeat each month. It is doable, and it beats doing nothing.
The hard part is consistency. Tracking means asking the same questions, under the same conditions, across several markets if you sell abroad, and comparing cleanly month to month. By hand, you do it once, then forget. That repetitive work is exactly what automation takes off your hands.
Setting up real monitoring
Useful monitoring rests on three pillars: a stable set of questions, asked at regular intervals, on the AIs that matter for your market; a measure that is comparable from one period to the next; and an alert when something truly changes — a drop in presence, a new factual error, a competitor appearing.
Our free pre-diagnosis gives you that starting point, with no account to create: a snapshot of your mentions across several AIs, in your market's language. It is the baseline from which ongoing tracking becomes simple to put in place.
Frequently asked questions
How often should I monitor my AI mentions?
A monthly check is a good rhythm for a competitive sector or right after correcting information; quarterly is enough for a more stable business. What counts is regularity: the value is in comparing one period to the next, not in an isolated measurement.
Do I need to monitor every AI?
Focus on the ones your customers actually use: ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity cover most usage, with variations by country. Tracking several AIs matters because their answers diverge sharply — one alone gives a partial view.
What if a mention becomes wrong or disappears?
AIs rely on what is published about you: website, reviews, press, directories. You cannot edit an answer directly, but by clarifying and updating those sources the answers evolve. Regular monitoring is precisely what lets you confirm a correction has finally been taken into account.
